Food Pairings for Bellevue la Foret Fronton Rose
Rich crimson color. Creamy, oaky nose faintly reminiscent of Cocoa Pebbles with whole milk. Though less earthy than the others, yet this bottling still shows a touch of animal fur of Negrette. Very smooth tannins despite the fact 55% of the cuvée is Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The nice acidic tension leads to a medium finish with generous oak notes lingering longest. 14% abv
I bought this bottle of wine from a wine shop in Hampstead London www.nicolas.co.uk for eight pounds.Fronton or Cotes de Frontonais,asit was known before 2005 is an AOC for red and rose wines from the area just north of Toulouse.It is beleived that wine production in this area goes back to the Romans but in the 13th century crusaders brought the negrette grape back from Cyprus and it is now unique to this area.AOC rules state that negrette must make up at least 50% of the blend,and as the name suggests,it gives the wine a particularly dark colour but it can be difficult to grow as it is very thin skinned.An Irishman, Philip Grant bought Chateau Bellevue la Foret [www.chateaubellevuelaforet.com ] in 2008.It is a large 112 hectare estate. and my bottle is one of several cuvees made there.It consists of 50% negrette 20% cabernet sauvignon,15% cabernet franc and 15% syrah.I started my bottle last night with a meal of stewed pork and I liked it very much.It has a concentrated fruit,almost licorice flavour with a spicy herbal and floral aftertaste.It is unusual but very enjoyable
Salmon color with blue translucent tints. A ripe nose of strawberries and red currants, tarragon with hint of lemon and candy. A crunchy mouthfeel well balanced between vivacious and mellow with a fine pepper finish. If carefully stocked can be aged for up to 2 years.
<p>This wine displays blackberry and plum aromas along with a touch of tobacco. It is full bodied, with a good balance and long finish. </p>
