Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Pleasantly powerful fruit palate of cherry, strawberry & pomegranate, with intriguing earthy notes of forest mushroom, and a hint of spice. Good typical PN character, but lacking complexity, and comes at a high price in Canada ($33)

Juicy, sugary, and lacking any complexity. Disappointing even at $16.99, it's possible that had it been a blind tasting, I would have thought it was a $6.99 Pinot, or not even a Pinot at all, perhaps a weak-flavored Syrah.

I don't like this style of Pinot Noir. However, I realize that there are many wine drinkers who like this. It is just too jammy and lush for my taste.

Complex savory herb, black cherry and wild berry flavors are tight and firm, full-bodied and tannic, ending with a somewhat clipped finish. Drink now through 2017. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Bright, deep garnet color. Aromas of cola, blackberries and a sweet cedar note. The first entry encases the mouth with a velvety richness. Then the wine unloads with flavors of bright cherry, cola, dried leaves undertoned with vanilla, leather and high style oak.

Offers a complex mix of dried berry, cranberry, anise and fresh earth. This is full-bodied, elegant and refined, with earth and fruit on the finish. Drink now through 2015.

Winemaker's Notes - Bright, deep garnet color. Aromas of cola, blackberries and a sweet cedar note. A greatly layered palette abundant in flavor and texture. The first entry incases the mouth with a velvety richness. Then the wine unloads with flavors of bright cherry, cola, dried leaves undertoned with vanilla, leather and high style oak. The many layers emerge independently, then refocus while the supple tannins carry the wine through to a lingering, succulent finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

PinotFile: 47% Sonoma County, 19% Monterey County, 34% Santa Barbara County... Dark reddish-purple hue... Demure blueberry and plum sauce aromas with distracting oak char. Teeth-staining core of vivid black raspberry, strawberry, plum and cassis flavors with an underpinning of oak toast and vanillin. Blessed with pillowy tannins. (2/28/11)
