The vineyard locations can all be described as coastal, but the climate differences are significant, depending on the amount of fog, wind, sunlight, and soil type at each site. Each wine is crafted to distill the purest essence of the vineyard into elegant expressions of California Pinot Noir. Winemaker Joseph Wagner chose the name Belle Glos (pronounced BELL GLOSS) to honor his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, a co-founder of Caymus Vineyards. Read less

Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. An attractive veneer of sweet oak sits lightly atop properly ripened, well-defined fruit in the rich and somewhat refined aromas here, and the wine follows suit with very solid, true-to-the-grape flavors that are at once bright and moderately rich. Held back from higher scores at this point by its pushy finishing acids, this one promises to improve over time and deserves additional age.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. Long on sweet and well-ripened cherries all the way through and enriched with very sensibly placed oak, this deep, full-bodied Pinot is supple, balanced and fairly plush on the palate. We could argue for a little more complexity, but that would be missing its fruity point, and it may well be that, with another few years in the bottle, the wine grows and finds a little more range.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. There is no want of ripeness or muscle here, but the wine could do with a boost in defined Pinot fruit, and, what starts out as a plummy, chocolate-tinged effort turns out to be fairly gruff and a little tough for prime time. Aging will help, but time alone will not see this one change its stripes.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
