Belle Glos Pinot Noir Santa Maria Valley Clark & Telephone 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

Bright ruby red with fresh, vibrant aromas of wild blackberry, raspberry jam and cedar box accented by rich floral notes. This wine is juicy and generous on the palate with sweet cherry, field-ripened strawberry, cranberry and just-baked gingerbread. Perfectly balanced with bright acidity and a supple mouthfeel. Fine grained tannins provide an authentic textural distinction and structural depth.

Carob, licorice and herbs greet the nose along with creamy black cherry cola notes and a touch of juniper spice. Nicely put together on entry. Slighty larger scaled but well balanced, this delivers intense tart black cherry fruit on the palate with spicy oak framing notes. Creamy vanilla and licorice accents lead to a slightly sweet/dry type of finish with spicy tannins clipping the finale. There's a hint of heat here as well. I can see the appeal here: nice mouthfeel, big fruit, well-measured oak and it's well done, but it still leaves me a little flat. 89pts

Classic Burgundy BGCT 2011 it is not. -- Full fruit forward and little back. Big Dark Full front ?? (confusing) pinot. Not sure what happened. As a table wine maybe +85, as a burgundy >60.. My opinion.

This wine was fully bodied and like velvet. It was one of the best Pinots that I've had in a long time.

Dont peel the wax with the included string around the top. just plunge your key straight in and pull.

A product under the Caymus Vineyards umbrella. Picked this wine up for our 4 year anniversary dinner and the girlfriend and I/we loved it. Right out of the bottle, what a bright and vibrant nose of ripe cherry, plum and spices. In the mouth we found a lot of sweet cherry, red berry, fall spices and rich caramel. The last glass of the bottle revealed quite a bit of vanilla considering the short time she spent in French oak. I was worried it would be a tad young but it drank well with just enough acid and heat to complement our pork porterhouse with gingered jewel yams with heirloom apple coulis, shaved fennel and tangerine. Can drink now or wait 4-6 years. I cant wait to try the Sonoma and Sta. Lucia versions, or the '06s and '07s.

The color is a rich scarlet-red, with opulent aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of caramel. The palate comes alive with flavors of ripe raspberries, strawberry jam, a dense blackberry core, warm gingerbread, and a hint of toffee. It is perfectly balanced with refreshing acidity, plush weight on the mid-palate and a wonderfully supple texture. The expansive fruit flavors carry through to a long, pure and persistent finish. When asked to describe this wine, I simply say its like a taste of Christmas, all year long. - Joseph Wagner, Owner and Winemaker.

Belle Glos is a super premium Pinot Noir produced by none other than Caymus Vineyards and the striking red wax capsule is a statement to the exceptional character of this wine. The Wagner family purchased prime vineyard property in the several Pinot Noir hot spots including this vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. Clark & Telephone Vineyard, located near the corner of Clark Avenue and Telephone Road in the Santa Maria Valley, is cooled by wind and fog that snakes in from the Pacific Ocean along a channel of the Santa Maria River. Established in 1972, the Clark & Telephone Vineyard was planted "own root" to the Martini clone. This heirloom clone of Pinot Noir, one of the first to grace the California coastlands, has become something of a lost treasure. In 2008 a long slow growing season led to harvest at the end of October. The grapes were de-stemmed and fermented slowly followed by aging in 60% new French oak barrels for nine months. Bursting with aromas of cinnamon, cherry and hints of spiced tea. On the palate the wine is plush with brown spice and sweet oak flavors, layered with deep blueberry and strawberry. Lively acidity leads into a long finish with supple tannins.

Purple core, with paler ruby rim. Baking spices, candied red fruit, and pronounced rose petal aromas. Dark cherry flavors roll across the palate, backed up by a pinch of pepper. This robust wine appeals to those wanting a smooth, full red. If enjoyi... Roland Hankerson. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2010 Belle Glos Pinot Noir Clark & Telephone Vineyard 750ml

Tremendously rich and ripe, this Pinot just dazzles the palate with waves of raspberries, cherries, cocoa, red licorice, bacon and other intense umami flavors. It's dry and silky, but the drawback is excessive softness.

A rich, extracted style thatrsquo;s dense, but also very complex and detailed, with spicy berry flavors that fan out nicely while retaining their focus, gaining depth on the finish. Best from 2012 through 2019.
