Food Pairings for Belle Glos Pinot Noir California Meiomi
This is a really impressive bottle. Tasted in Glen Ellyn 12/4/2010.
Tasted at UNLVino 4/10/10
Aromas of black cherry, plum, pepper, spice, grapefruit, wet forest floor and fresh grass open. Roses and cherry notes soon mingle with a hint of creamy vanilla, a waft of chocolate and a background of woodsy earthiness. Freshly pulled roots, damp soil and green moss follow, with faint scents of hibiscus and honeysuckle. At 30 minutes, nuances of rose, blackberry and dark fruits emerge beneath the brighter cherry lead notes. Intro on the palate includes an initial peppery heat, followed quickly by strong cherry and vanilla, with hints of dried green apple. A slight taste of pepper and spice with a mix of new leather, forest roots, and chocolate make for a sultry and seductive mid-palate. Well-balanced acidity helps support evolving movements of cherry, raspberry, cranberry and plum with gentle grass and vegetative undertones, including beets, radishes, and carrots. Cherry is sustained from the beginning and throughout, with high-hat pepper in the background, and an occasional strawberry swell. Spice and herbs emerge and evolve, especially with bites of fish, cheese, or chocolate. All too short a finish, but exquisite during its short life. Opens to its peak in an hour to an hour and a half, when an arrangement of herbs, roses and cherries dominate and thread through other aromas in reprise. Excellent Pinot Noir for the price.
Not a big tannic pinot, but nice fruit and very well balanced with a nice earthy finish. Good value
Really enjoyed this wine. Had it at a private tasitng last night and bought two bottles. Very nice Pinot Noir, easy drinking at an excellent price. Hints of tobacco and a bit of dustyness.
