Bella Sera Chianti 2009
Our Bella Sera Chianti, from the official Chianti region of Italy, is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. It is pleasant on the palate, with inviting aromas and flavors of fresh red cherry and spice. Medium-bodied, our Chianti has soft tannins and a bright acidity with a fresh finish. This wine is the ideal accompaniment to pizza, pork and pastas lathered in spicy tomato sauce.
Bella sera wines come from vineyards located in the renown Tre Venezie and Toscana regions of Italy.
Originally purchased this wine for cooking use mainly because of its low price. With that in mind and basically 3/4 of a bottle to finish off I can easily say I was completely blown away by this Chianti in a taste test. I'm not a wine connoisseur by any means but after years of enjoying Chiantis in price ranges of $15-$30, this inexpensive bottle sits top shelf for me. I recently purchased 2 more bottles, one to drink and the other to hide away for a few years. I'm interested in how this wine would taste "matured."
Chianti is ,first and foremost, not to be generally consider as is the French wines(which I am a fan of). There is no doubt that there are a few "great" chianti's out there, but they are few and far between. Like the general wine description above states, Chianti holds a diversity of flavors, and I believe that should be noted when tasting this particular bottle. This bottle has a gentle balance of delicate tannins with a quite refreshing acidity accompanied by a fruity/nutmeg like notes , that is, truly delightful.I enjoyed this bottle very much if I could give it a ten star I would unfortunately it has to receive 5 bottles! This wine is far from awful and if I can find another bottle I will pay what ever the price!!! -Greg Solomon
