Belisario Verdicchio Verdicchio di Matelica Vigneti del Cerro 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Cantine Belisario is a 300-hectare co-operative founded in 1971. Today, 24 of the vineyards are biodynamic. It is the biggest producer of Verdicchio in the Matelica DOC which although lesser known than the Castelli di Jesi, can be every bit as good. Belisario’s vineyards are situated inland, where the climate is more continental. This combination of warm days and cool nights gives a longer growing season, which in turn ensures good flavour in the grapes. Vigneti del Cerro is a single vineyard Verdicchio which yields about 7 tonnes per hectare. It is 360m above sea level. This 100% Verdicchio wine is light gold in colour, with youthful, greenish lights. On the nose it is clean and fresh, with perfumes of white flowers, a nuttiness and good intensity which gives way to a dry, tangy mineral quality on the palate.

A vibrant, dry white wine that's beautifully aromatic on the palate with white flowers and a dusting of powdery minerals. Unoaked and best enjoyed with a chill.
