Behrens & Hitchcock Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley St. Augustine 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes on the Behrens & Hitchcock Napa Valley St. Augustine 2004 92-95 Pts. Robert Parker : WINEMAKER NOTES: Joe Bob's notes for this 2nd wine honoring our friend Augie Rocha include descriptions such as "high notes" and "high tone." Mr. Parker, with a score of 92-95 points, said it is an "ethereal-tasting red" and "vivacious, and light on its feet". OK so far. But, at the same time, JB's notes say it is "thick", "slow and jammy", Schatzi's say "molasses", "earthy", and "dark" while Mr. Parker smelled "aromas of scorched earth". Say what . . .??? But everyone agreed that this wine is delicious and full-bodied with a finish that just won't quit and great ageing potential. 42% Cab Franc, 42% Merlot, 16% Cab Sauvignon. 241 cases produced.BEHRENS & HITCHCOCK NAPA VALLEY ST. Of this tiny, dug out space, Les assured Joe Bob that, “We have all the room we will ever need.” However, the roots of Behrens & Hitchcock are found in Folie Douce, the award-winning restaurant Lisa Drinkward and Les Behrens launched in 1991 in Arcata, California. While Lisa was developing an incredible, French-inspired menu, Les was busy cultivating a superb wine list and cellar which eventually received the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. In the course of creating the wine list, Les met many winemakers and received encouragement from several to begin making his own wine. The idea, which seemed almost nonsensical at first, quickly began to take root in Les’ mind. Read less

Lots of strong florals. Lavender and violet. Palate is rich red berry tart with wonderul perfumed accents of those flowers. It's rich yet delicate, powerful yet smooth and simply exquisite! Outstanding wine!! - Schreiner's Winers 7/9/10
