Bedrock Ode To Lulu Old Vine Rose California 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

Mataro and Grenache from old and low yielding vineyards. All lots were picked at low potential alcohol and whole-cluster pressed. This year's iteration is more aromatically explosive than last year's--the oftentimes stentorian Mataro showing off a bit more playfulness and the Grenache providing oodles of crunchy bright fruit. Not yet reviewed; 2015 vintage rated 90 points by Decanter: Named in honour of Lulu Peynaud, the legendary chatelaine of Bandol's Domaine Tempier, this Mourvèdre rosé bursts with watermelon, spring flowers, citrus and spice preface a fresh, supple wine with a savoury finish crying out for a Provençal feats. Morgan Twain-Peterson is one of the great exponents of California's old vine heritage, and this bottling hails from a vineyard planted in the 1940s! Alcohol 12.6%. Drink: 2016-2023.
