Bedrock Heritage Contra Costa County Evangelho Vineyard 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

From vines planted in 1880 at the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers in San Francisco Bay's Carquinez Strait. The vines are a mix of mainly Mourvedre and Carignan, and the rest Zinfandel, Palomino, Alicante, and Mission. The vines have thrived ungrafted, growing in their own roots, and dry-farmed (not irrigated). In the hands of the brilliant Morgan Twain Peterson of Bedrock, these 132 year-old vines produce a wine that is deeply flavored and expressive.

Bedrock Wine Co.:
Bedrock is an itsy-bitsy winery making wine in a converted chicken coop. Fruit from only the most excellent vineyard sites is hand pitch-forked into the destemmer, fermented in open top redwood and stainless vats using only native yeasts, and are manually basket pressed by winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson into the sexiest oak from the coldest French forests.
