Bedrock Heritage Contra Costa County Evangelho Vineyard 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Composed of roughly 40% Carignane, 38% Mourvedre, with the remainder Zinfandel, Palomino, Alicante, and Mission, the wine is a great expression of the fresh fruits and zippy acid found from the well-tended, own-rooted vines planted in the 1890's. The wine possesses crunchy red fruits of the Carignane, the sappiness of fresh Zinfandel, and the feral and exotic spice and earth of the terrestrial Mourvedre. Drink 2014-2020. 500 cases produced. Not yet reviewed; 2011 vintage rated 93 points by Wine Spectator.

Bedrock Wine Co.:
Bedrock is an itsy-bitsy winery making wine in a converted chicken coop. Fruit from only the most excellent vineyard sites is hand pitch-forked into the destemmer, fermented in open top redwood and stainless vats using only native yeasts, and are manually basket pressed by winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson into the sexiest oak from the coldest French forests.
