Winemakers Notes

Crafted around a core of 44% Grenache, this is one of our finest Cuvée Le Becs to date-and a phenomenal wine drinking value! The aromas are lush and lively with notes of plum, pomegranate, milk chocolate, red licorice and nutmeg. On the palate, it delivers great structure and vibrant red berry layers of cherry and raspberry, before concluding with a long black cherry and chocolate finish. 90 Points - Wine Advocate: One of the finest values in the Central Coast is their Cuvee Le Bec, and the 2007, a blend of 44% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, and 8% Counoise, is one of the two great Cotes du Rhone read more...

An exciting Southern Rhone style blend from California, great out of the bottle with an authentic nose, richer fruit, and similar balance and varietal blend to its southern French counterparts. Expresses a California terroir not a French one; seems to settle down and become well-balanced much more quickly after opening than the French equivalents which can take time to integrate and smooth out. Has an cocoa-coffee and olive-herb finish not unlike the CdR blends. Nose of fruit and floral, later also cocoa and coffee, with mouthfuls of semi-dry smooth rich dark red and blue fruit with hints of smoke, spice, and pepper in the mouth, medium-plus weight, well-integrated tannins and acid, and a rich ripe fruity finish with a bit of soil and licorice that fades to olives or nut oil much like the French style. Tasted great with a garlicky mediterranean onion-pasta with basil. Prepare for the next "Freedom fries" embargo (hopefully that won't happen) and stock up on this 2007.

On the palate, it delivers great structure and vibrant red berry layers of cherry and raspberry, before concluding with a long black cherry and chocolate finish. 90 Points - Wine Advocate: One of the finest values in the Central Coast is their Cuvee Le Bec, and the 2007, a blend of 44% Grenache, 28% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre, and 8% Counoise, is one of the two great Cotes du Rhone look-alikes of the Central Coast (the other being the 2007 Cotes de Tablas). This is the type of wine that California can do so well, but rarely does. Part of the reason may be due to the difficulty of trying to convince consumers that a proprietary blend, available at a much lower price, can ultimately be better than some single varietal wines. The super 2007 Cuvee Le Bec is a sexy, delicious concoction of red and black cherries, black currants, pepper, spice box, and fruitcake. Medium to full-bodied and pure with supple tannins and a fleshy, lush personality

A Rhône varietal blend, ever evolving with watermelon, spicy-sweet red and dark fruits and touch of black licorice. Biodynamic and 100% hand farmed.

The 2007 Cuvee Le Bec is a sexy, delicious concoction of red and black cherries, black currants, pepper, spice box and fruitcake. Medium to full bodied with pure supple tannins. The fleshy, lush personality provides immense pleasure over the next 3-4 years.

Staff Selection! - We love this Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre blend for it's round voluptuous fruit and the complexity of it's layering. Within just 10 minutes, the meaty components of the Mourvedre start to stand out dramatically. Nice length and balanced acidity. Excellent Value and a Fresno Favorite!
