RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Food Pairings for Becker Vineyards Zinfandel Texas Hill Country
Tried at the tasting room 01/2012. Fruit-forward and chewy with young red fruits. Medium bodied with not much complexity and slight tannins that still could use some age. A touch of spice to the finish but overpowered by the fruit palate. Certainly one you would want to put away for a while if you get your hands on a bottle. Wonderful winery!
This bottle can only be purchased if you visit the winery in Fredericksburg, TX. Unfortunately, as an attempt to age my bottle, I held on to it too long and it went through traumatic temperature and humidity changes when my small apartment in Galveston, TX was flooded by Hurricane Ike. I was unable to rescue the bottle until 1 month later. None the less, the bottle was not "corked" or have the taste of pure vinegar. Very dark purple color. Aromas of raspberry and dark cherry. Medium mouth feel with tastes of sweet red berries followed by strong, young tannins that reside on your taste buds for a long time after the wine has gone. Very unique rendition of the Zinfandel grape. The Texas Hill Country terroir is abundantly present. I enjoyed this bottle immensely even it had been slightly altered. I may have to visit the winery to reassess very soon...
