User Reviews for Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Yamhill County Beaux Frères Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes:

Has been our most powerful, high-test Pinot Noir to date. A drought year resulted in absolutely miniscule yields (only matched by the microscopic yields of 2004). This resulted in a wine of enormous concentration, body and richness. Early on, several commentators referred to this as “Rhone-like”, but today this is pure Pinot Noir. The wine still has a healthy deep ruby-purple color which is just beginning to lighten at the rim. The wine has stayed fresh, lively and full-bodied, with sensational concentration. This is a black fruited style of wine showing mountain boysenberry, blackberry, licorice and floral notes with hints of spicy wood in the background. Quite full bodied, opulent and rich it is a textural tapestry for Pinot Noir. It is bigger than any other vintage we have produced and still an adolescent in terms of evolution. It is atypical but a very special wine that should last for a quarter of a century under proper storage. There should be no hurry to drink it, but it does taste like 100% Pinot Noir (which it is) rather than Grenache or Syrah which it more resembled in its youth.
