The nose here is a bit gentle with sweet roasted fruit and subtle soft spices. The palate follows through with a soft, feathery appeal that highlights the roasted strawberry and black plum fruits. The finish gains a touch of wood spice and soil tones but this remains remarkable elegant Pinot that more winemakers should be emulating. 92pts

Subtle and graceful. Remarkably generous with its many layers of flavor, offering currant, raspberry, cherry, violet and mineral notes that keep echoing as the finish sails on and on. Tannins are present but should polish up with time in the cellar..... Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from Oregon in USA. 2003 Beaux Freres Pinot Noir The Beaux Freres Vineyard 750ml

Amazingly supple graceful and focused balancing raspberry blackberry plum and spicy smoky elements into a seamless whole all wrapped in fine tannins and lingering on the finish beautifully. 94 points Wine Spectator. Aromatic wild nose of game and dark berries. Initially rather ungiving but then vibrant and juicy in the mouth with fresh black raspberry and tangy pepper notes. Finishes strong with good length and solid grip. 90 points Stephen Tanzer

    Winemaker's Notes:

This is a big, chunky corpulent style of wine, very much in character with the vintage with its spikes of heat and potential for high alcohol and richness. Like most Oregon Pinots of this vintage it is slightly heavyweight, atypical and on a fast evolutionary track. The color is a deep plum/ruby/purple. This wine is full bodied and earthy, smoky, with loads of black fruits and hints of figs and chocolate. This wine may lack some of the complexity that great Pinot Noir can achieve, but does compensate with a fat plushy texture, low acidity and long, heady finish. This is not your classic delicate-styled Pinot Noir. (Tasted July 2007)
