Beaux Freres Pinot Noir The Beaux Freres Vineyard(2005)
After 16 vintages it would seem easy to compare the newborn 2005 with a previous year, but it is actually quite difficult. - "Firm in texture at first, but then blossoms into a panorama of flavors, fanning out its raspberry cream flavors and hinting at floral, mineral, green tea and Asian spice notes as the finish picks up steam. Not a big wine, but has many layers to explore. Best from 2009 through 2015...93." WS 5/07

- ($75) Deep red. Pungent red and dark berry aromas are complicated by black cardamom, cinnamon, cola and mocha. Fleshy cassis and black raspberry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins and given a serious mien by hints of dried flowers and graphite. Some unabsorbed CO2 dissipated with aeration. Finishes gently spicy but with impressive energy and focus.
