Beaune Greves Vigne de L Enfant Jesus Bouchard Pere et Fils 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound: "A discreet though not invisible application of wood sets off highly complex aromas of plum liqueur and a wide range of floral elements that are trimmed in soft spice and earth notes. There is outstanding richness to the full-bodied and concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductive, even caressing mouth feel before concluding in a decidedly firm, well-balanced and slightly austere finish. This is very clearly built-to-age and should mature slowly over the next 12 to 15 years. Very impressive." 4/17 91-94 Points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous: "Bright ruby-red. Liqueur-like ripeness to the aromas of purple fruits, bitter chocolate and cotton candy; smells very concentrated. Plush and large-scaled, displaying outstanding density and a seriously mouthfilling quality to its dark cherry and dark chocolate flavors. A very tactile, broad Beaune wine with a finish that's ripely tannic and very long--and not at all over the top. The best of an impressive set of Beaune premier crus in 2015." 01/17 90-92 Points, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Les Greves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus comes from sandier soil than elsewhere in Beaune Grèves and therefore tends to be picked earlier. This blend contains around 30% whole cluster fruit. It has a clean and fresh bouquet with red plum, mulberry and cranberry aromas that have more brightness than some of Bouchard Père's other red 2015 barrel samples. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well judged acidity, plenty of red fruit mixed with honey, hints of marmalade, quite exotic for this vineyard, but with everything kept in proportion. This should develop into a fine red Burgundy." 12/16
