Beaune Clos des Ursules Domaine des Heritiers Louis Jadot 94 Jg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"There have been so many outstanding vintages of Clos des Ursules over the last twenty-five years that it is hard to say that the 2010 is the best of this fine run, but if it is not the finest, it is right up there with the other absolutely reference point vintages of Clos des Ursules, as this wine is stunning. The deep, very pure and nicely reserved nose offers up a complex mélange of cassis, sappy black cherries, espresso, woodsmoke, a beautifully complex base of soil, and a deft touch of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and wonderfully sappy at the core, with stunning transparency, beautiful, nascent complexity, ripe tannins and magical length and grip on the dancing, primary and utterly suave finish. Put this one right up there with the 2005 and 1999 Clos des Ursules (both of which I probably underrated out of the blocks) as one of the greatest vintages since 1978 for this great wine...94+" JG 12/11 "Sweet Spot Outstanding: Though the wood is hardly subtle it's more completely integrated than in these other Beaune 1ers. The wonderfully airy and layered nose offers up aromas of earth, wild cherry, raspberry and a hint of stone. There is excellent volume to the solidly well-concentrated medium weight flavors that are at once suave but detailed, all wrapped in a tension-filled, dusty, austere and mouth coating finish of impeccable balance. A classic Clos des Ursules that should reward well 12 to 15 years of cellaring...91-93" BH 04/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. This review is for the 2009 vintage, which I couldn't find on Snooth. Pale straw color, lots of fruit and good acidity, with a slightly warm, nutty flavor in the middle. Short, tart aftertaste that leaves you wanting another sip. Very nice for the price ($12ish at Stew Leonard's).

The lovely, elegant Chardonnay has nice buttery notes with honeyed pear and fresh apples, offset by a gentle touch of vanilla. Excellent balance of fruit and acidity on the palate with a lingering finish.

Here the wood is almost invisible with classic aromas of mineral-reduction, acacia blossom and various citrus elements, in particular lemon and grapefruit. There is terrific delineation and detail to the caressing and overtly stony flavors that posse... Burghound. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 2010 Louis Jadot Meursault Perrieres 750ml
