A terrific wine, delicious and classic in structure. Shows the beauty of the blend, which consists of five Bordeaux varieties. Rich in cherries, blackberries, red currants, chocolate, anise and sandalwood, it has a gentle, elegant mouthfeel, and is thoroughly dry.

The 2006 Proprietary Red Wine Tapestry Reserve (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) is the finest example of this cuveacute;e I have ever tasted. Flowery, licorice-infused, cassis notes intermixed with forest floor and lead pencil shavings are followed by a layered, impressively built wine with real opulence, lots of red and black fruits, low acidity, and lush tannin. It should drink well for 15+ years.

The 1997 Tapestry is a Claret-styled, understated, restrained wine that looks to Europe for inspiration rather than taking advantage of the superb ripe fruit California provides. This dark ruby-colored, medium-bodied, moderately tannic effort exhibits notions of dried herbs, coffee, black cherries and spice. Drink it over the next 4ndash;5 years.

Having a soft spot for full-bodied Bordeaux blends, Georges de Latour has created a recipe for a shy yet wonderful meritage. Earthy, subtle with plush, ripe cassis and plum flavors linger in your mouth. Beaulieu is French for ldquo;beautiful place;rdquo; this one made for an enchanting evening with Dionysus for me and my loved ones.

Good deep red. Expressive, claret-like aromas of strawberry, raspberry, currant, cherry, tobacco, menthol and spices. Supple and sweet, with good floral lift to the berry and tobacco flavors. Firm acids and rather suave tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this wine now. Winemaker Stambor is doing a lot of the malolactic fermentation of this wine in barrel, and does some stirring of the lees for the cabernet lot.

The 2001 Tapestry Reserve, a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, displays more complex aromas of sweet vanillin, black cherries, dusty, loamy soil, and red as well as black currants. It is medium-bodied, elegant, stylish, and best drunk over the next 7ndash;10 years.

The goal of blending is to create a wine that has greater complexity than each of its components. Our Reserve Tapestry gives me full rein to blend a unique, richly-layered wine with 5 Bordeaux-style varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Our 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry begins with deep, briary blackberry and cassis character from Cabernet Sauvignon. Velvety black-cherr character comes from a generous blending of Merlot, while Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot add violet, licorice, forest loam and graphite nuances, as well as deep hues and texture. The multi-layered flavors are gracefully framed by a supple, graceful tannin structure. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot. 20 months in 73% French oak, 27% American oak (50% new)
