Beaulieu Vineyard Merlot Coastal California 2005
Wine Tasting Notes Harvest season manifests itself clearly in this wine, revealing black cherry and the distinctive cocoa-mineral aromas typical of Merlot. Fruit from southern Napa and cool Carneros was judiciously blended with Merlot from our warmer Rutherford and St. Helena vineyards, giving strong dark berry flavor and soft tannins; a subtle truffle-mineral flavor adds to its allure. This wine has lovely dark ruby color.
fair. A bit tannic. Very oakey for a merlot. BV tasting 11/14/09 Lee's Discount Liquor

Not too bad. We've had better Merlots, though. This one is a little too sharp for my taste. I wish it was a little sweeter and didn't leave that bitter aftertaste in my mouth. It will make you feel good and relaxed after one glass so you won't need to drink half the bottle to feel at ease. Good at dinner but too heavy to drink for fun.
Sharp is a good description. I had a fudge bar after a steak and the chocolate melted it for me. Nice comb ination, otherwise a 7.49 bottle from Publix was worth...well...7.49.

Juicy and easygoing, with plum and sassafras aromas and tart cherry and spicy herb flavors. Drink now through 2012. 34,000 cases made. -TF
Wine Tasting NotesThis inviting Merlot opens with bright raspberry and cherry aromas, complemented by a touch of vanilla and spice. It is a pretty wine, with a smooth palate and a nice balance between red cherry acidity, tannins and subtle mocha flavors. Enjoy it on its own or paired with roast chicken, grilled hamburgers or sausage pizza.
