What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

Winemakers Notes

Our 2005 Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon expresses velvety layers of cherry, plum, rose and chocolate captured from vineyards throughout this renowned valley. Toasty oak from barrel aging adds warmth to the red fruit aromas and lingers on the palate. Enjoy this Cabernet Sauvignon with steak grilled over grape canes or seared beef tenderloin with whold grain mustard.

Aroma – red fruit, rose, toasty oak
Body – full bodied
Flavor – cherry, plum, chocolate
Food Pairings – grilled steak, beef tenderloin

Reviews

An excellent price/value wine with complexity in both smell and taste. Black cherry, with a hint of licorice. Smooth overall with a lovely after taste that lingers.

Dark ruby-black color. Lovely herbal, black cherry, plum, cassis and dark chocolate aromas. Medium full-bodied, with lush berry, anise and jam flavors, balanced by sweet lush fruit and supple tannins. Very fine Cabernet fruit flavors and firm but plush texture make this wine drinkable now, yet capable of aging for 5-8 years. Enjoy with grilled meat dishes, a rich lamb stew or firm cheeses like Manchego.

Respectable complexity and texture for a cab in this price range. Expresses layers of dark chocolate, cassis and black cherry with a hint of licorice. Very easy to drink. Nice compliment to lamb or aged cheeses.

Good Cali cab. Black cherries and licorice on the nose. A good deal of oak and spice on the palate with a juicy rubbery finish.
