Beaujolais Villages "La Treille" 2008
This is a great little Beaujolais made, of course, from 100% Gamay grapes. It is extremely affordable, extremely fun and it does exactly what it says on the tin (although it does come in a bottle). It is a brilliant ruby colour, with aromas of red fruit - especially strawberries and blackcurrants. It is harmonious on the palate with a smooth finish. It is a most versatile wine, and the Slurp general rule is: if you can eat it outside you can pair it with Beaujolais. But it does work particularly well with grilled meats, lamb, poultry and goat’s cheeses.
