Food Pairings for Bava Bass Tuba Moscato d'Asti Halves
Winemaker's Notes:
Bava, founded in 1911, is one of the most innovative wineries in Italy today run by the three Bava brothers, Roberto, Giulio and Paulo. Cocconato, where the Bavas live, is a large village, above Asti and the Po plains. This extroverted, sunny Moscato, which is called Bass Tuba ever since, back in the 1980s, Bava was the first to break with tradition and modernize the image then associated with Asti Spumante. Bottling it in a Bordeaux bottle normally utilized for an important red, combined with a careful selection and reduction of vineyard yields, and scrupulous cellar handling and bottle aging complete the job of creating this extraordinary wine. Today, Bass Tuba is still a DOCG and provides a great deal of satisfaction even in the new half-bottle format. A key feature is its low alcohol content, making it a wine everyone can drink, perfect for toasts on any occasion. It should always be stored and served well chilled. Bava are still convinced we have chosen the right instrument for the label, suggesting celebrations and rich band sounds, as distinctive as the aroma of Bava Moscato.
