Baumard 'Carte Turquoise' Brut Crémant de Loire NV

Winemaker's Notes:

An expressive, nuanced blend of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Light straw colour and lean, minerally aromas with notes of apple and white peach. Fresh lemon, apple and pink grapefruit flavours with hints of almond. The mousse is refined and relatively soft, though there is plenty of crisp acidity. Finishes long and dry with attractive biscuity notes. Enjoy now to 2018. 'Crisp, refreshing, vibrant and delicate, this Chenin Blanc-based sparkling wine, with touches of citrus and green apple, is worth going out of your way to try. Wine drinkers often forget that there are grapes beyond Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - two of the key varieties in Champagne-that can make great bubbles. Too many also overlook France's Loire Valley for great reds and whites. If you're curious to try something from the Loire Domaine des Baumard makes a slew of great wines and its name on a label is usually a good sign. This Carte Turquoise was 88 points.' James Laube, The Wine Spectator 'A rich, complex blend of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc made by one of the top producers in Anjou. The ripe fruits have kept their freshness, leaving a generous but crisp wine, with a delicate, elegant mousse. 90 points.' Roger Voss, The Wine Enthusiast 'From the Anjou district in the Loire, this is a fresh, fine, crisp fizz with tasty pure apple and taut citrus characters. It’s pure and quite sophisticated.' Jamie Goode, S Magazine, April 2015
