Smokey and floral on the nose with hints of brie, dusty minerals and lots of chalk and a touch of green herb. On entry this feels just a touch loose, but it firms up nicely, wrapping a creamy gauze of pear and apricot fruit around a spice of mineral and bitter almond flavors. There's nice weight here, but it remains refreshing, with a zesty, rather long almond and mineral finish. 88 points

Nice! Crisp, clean on front of palate, then shows some body with stone fruit, apricot, minerals, and just a touch of butter/tree nuts. Nose is all peach, apricot, minerals. What an interesting wine that I just keep drinking. Very nice with grilled fish and spicy food.

The 2009 Friulano is quite pretty in its debut vintage. Succulent ripe peaches are intermingled with flowers and mint as this soft, lush white takes shape in the glass. The Friulano delivers outstanding varietal character, and it is also a terrific value.

You know the flavor of star fruit, the skin? This has that. There's a bit of an herbal quality, like dried herbs, celery leaf, a foliage quality. Friuli has been so cutting edge for the past several years and when you taste a wine like this you can see they haven't let up. In Brazil we make a drink where you just open a passion fruit and let is drip into a glass of rum and at the end there's almost a fruit like quality from the seeds. This wine has a quality like that, a bitterness. It's the sort of wine to have with some crusty bread and prosciutto or dry cheese drizzled with some really good olive oil. You wash it down with a wine like this.

The 2007 Friulano is a very pleasant, soft-textured white with pretty varietal notes of ripe peaches, mint and flowers. The wine offers good length, not to mention terrific value. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2009.
