Merlot, Refosco, Cabernet Franc and Pignolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 90 "The 2003 Calabrone is over the top in its opulently-textured, port-like expression of the hot vintage. Although the fruit is somewhat over-ripe and raisiny, this sweet, unctuous wine could merit a higher score if the tannins soften. Made from a blend of Merlot, Refosco, Cabernet Franc and Pignolo, some of the Refosco, Cabernet Franc and Pignolo bunches are dried (Amarone-style) which gives the wine its body and depth of expression."
