Barton Vale Cabernet Sauvignon The Lazarus(2001)

Source: Flickinger Wines
WA 89 (8/2003): The deep ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon The Lazarus (aged in French oak for 22 months) exhibits great fruit, wonderful purity, and a sweet bouquet reminiscent of Christmas spices intermixed with cedar, black cherries, and currants. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated yet balanced, it will drink well for 7-8 years. This is an impressive operation that deserves attention from Australian wine enthusiasts. Owner Peter Smith and winemaker Rolf Binder (best known as the owner/winemaker of Veritas) are high on the potential of Eden Valley, a cooler sub-region of the Barossa."
