Barton Guestier & Mâcon-Villages 2008
External Reviews for Barton Guestier & Mâcon-Villages
A straightforward, medium-bodied Merlot, with earthy smoked bacon notes mingling nicely with plum and sweet berrylike flavors. It is crisp, with moderate tannins and a pleasant finish.
This well-focused French red shows black cherry, meaty and herbal notes typical of the varietal, in a round, soft package that has just enough grip to accompany food. Fresh and flavorful, it's made for drinking now, at a price that invites you to imbibe freely.
A dry red wine from the Languedoc with a dark ruby color, fruity aromatics, and soft flavors on the palate.
Smooth and fairly fleshy, with red plum and cassis, and flaovrs of coffee and chocolate on the finish.
On the red side, B&G offers an elegant, claret style in the '95 Vin de Pays d'Oc merlot. It hits the right notes with its soft,chocolate-scented fruit, and it finishes with pleasant earthy tannins rather than the sweetness you'll find in many merlots in this price range. B&G is back, offering reliable French wine at fair prices, a major accomplishment in and of itself.
Exploding with raspberry and blackberry aromas and notes of pepper and spice. Light-bodied and balanced; perfectly accompanies beef and cheese.
