Bartenura is a brand of Kosher wines produced in various regions of Italy such as Tuscany, Piedmont and the Veneto among others. The wines have been acclaimed for their value and quality, a popular favorite in the Kosher market. Their off-dry effervescent Moscato has been a recent crossover hit with the hip-hop market, known as “Bartenura Blue” for its blue glass bottle.
This mevushal Italian sparkler had a clear, gold color with large bubbles, although there weren’t a lot of them. On the nose, a pleasant medium-to-light yeasty smell was followed by a hint of fresh oranges. In the mouth, the Prosecco was more fizzy than bubbly. This sparkler was high in acid, which was exaggerated by the lime and grapefruit tastes. It’s a fairly simple tasting sparkling wine, but well-balanced and refreshing. Very nice Prosecco. Dry and crisp with none of the cloying residual sugary softness that leads to the downfall of many good Venetian bubblies. Quite yeasty with high acidity at the finish.

Crisp and clean, with a lemon and grapefruit core. Not complex, but dry and refreshing. Kosher. - J.M.
