Barossa Valley Estate E & E Black Pepper Shiraz 2000

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Dense, dark and powerful, a mighty mouthful of black pepper-scented black cherry, stewed plum and licorice flavors that echo beautifully on the long, fine-grained finish. Somehow it finds an elegant balance in the end. Best after 2005. 850 cases impo... Wine Spectator. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2000 Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz E & E Black Pepper 750ml

Every BVE wine is made in the reflection of our world-famous E&E Black Pepper Shiraz. Crafted from 100% Barossa Valley fruit our wines highlight the true expression of the richness and character of the region. In 1984, the consumption of red wine was declining. Offering handsome subsidies, the federal government urged growers to pull out their ancient Shiraz vines and replace them with Chardonnay. But there were 80 third and fourth generation Barossa Valley grape growers who refused. Stubbornness became their strength. Instead of trying to sell the grapes to winemakers for little reward, they decided to take control of their own destiny by forming a cooperative and making their own wine.
