Barons de Rothschild Legende Rouge 2011
Member Review by atonalprime:
Bouquet of tobacco, pomegranate, cherry and eucalyptus, strong tannins and a full body of cherries and plums with a fair bit of acid that makes the mouth water. The finish is soft and full with creamy stonefruits.

This had been open for a bit, but very well-integrated fruit, acidity and tannins, to make a tasty, nice-drinking wine. May still need some time to really shine.
Not much complexity, but with a lot of qualities rarely found in an inexpensive Bordeaux. Black fruit, leather, cedar. Very smooth.

I love a wine with a good backstory and this is a great example. Located between St-Julien and St-Estephe in the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux, Pauillac is home to three of Bordeaux’s five recognized first growths. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, of the legendary Château Mouton Rothschild estate, created this collection to honor her ancestors, and dedicated this particular wine to Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, who founded Mouton Rothschild in 1853. The grapes, grown in the famed soil of the Pauillac region, are aged in oak barrels for a taste of the legendary quality of an iconic region at a fraction of the price. With strong, dark fruit and nicely developed tannins, this wine is an outstanding value and could be opened now or aged according to your preference.
