Baron Thenard Givry Premiere Cru Clos St Pierre 2005

Member Review by semioticsymphony:

This review is for the Givry 2005 Clos St Pierre: Purchased for $24 and and tasted 5/1/09. There is sweet red fruits on the nose, with a note of boisenberry; notes of orange peel and tar complete the straight-forward aroma profile. The palate demonstrates good varietal character, though simple, with predominantly strawberry, cherry flavors on a foundation of dried leaves. The finish is medium, with herbal touches. Overpriced, but a good example of a poor man's Burgundy. Ironic in that regard.

Pierre Morey:
The total area of the domaine is 11 hectares, distributed in different parcels located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and, of course Meursault. All the vineyards were cultivated following organic agricultural practices from 1992 to 1997, at the end of this period the domaine became 100% biodynamic.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
