Baron Philippe de Rothschild Red Bordeaux Blend Escudo Rojo 2008
A joint effort between the Baron Philippe de Rothschild winemaking team and the best winemakers in Chile's most noted winemaking regions: the Maipo and Rapel Valleys. Escudo Rojo _[the literal translation of Rothschild - red shield_] is a masterful blend of old world grape varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chile's indigenous varietal Carmenere.
This is a very well balanced, nicely blended wine. The color is dark red, with a nose of coffee, tobacco and cherry. Good balance and similar flavor upon entry with decent length. Above average quality and to be recommended.
