Since 1933, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, located at Pauillac in the Médoc, has been motivated by a constant ambition: to make the world's finest wines, each in its own category, whether the châteaux wines for which it is responsible – the renowned Château Mouton Rothschild, a First Growth, and its distinguished lieutenants, Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac – or branded wines, like the famous Mouton Cadet. Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA has also exported its know-how beyond Bordeaux: to the Pays d'Oc, with a range of varietal wines and, more recently, Domaine de Baron'arques; to California, with Opus One; and to Chile, with Almaviva. One of the key factors behind the company's undisputed success is the art of blending, which it practises with exceptional skill. Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, the majority shareholder of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, works closely with the executive directors to maintain, modernise and develop the family business. Was not overly impressed with this one. Very earthy. Leather. Very little fruit at all. Almost nothing on the palate at first until you swallow and then it all comes rushing in. Finish does linger for a bit but it's all earth and leather but with decent tannins. Got this for ten bucks at the local liquor store. I can list a ton of wines for ten dollars that I'd prefer to this one. Try the '09 Augey Bordeaux. Not quite as earthy and with lots more fruit for the same price. May have been better with a big thick steak. Didn't match well with spaghetti. Drinkable, but that's about it.

The fruit and minerality of this wine balance beautifully. I have to say that I enjoy all wine varietals for all of their unique attributes, but to me, the Mouton Cadet Bordeaux Blanc is what a Sauvignon Blanc based blend should taste like. And you can't beat the price point!

Beautiful, light golden color. Very fruity aroma immediately upon opening. Pineapple and honeydew coming across on the nose. Crisp and refreshing, low alcohol (12%). If Italian Pinot Grigio and CA Sauvignon Blanc had a baby, it would taste like this! Great buy - absolutely enjoyed it!

A dense red with a pronounced purple tint. The nose is expressive and complex, rich in fresh and ripe fruit aromas, especially red cherry and morello cherry, with a touch of spice.

Quite herbal, with some green beans and anise up front. Black fruit takes a back seat but is these if you look for it. Blackberry and beach plums come to mind. The tannins are a bit rustic.

A blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, this is a medium-bodied Bordeaux for everyday drinking. The understated black cherry and cassis fruit does seem a bit lean, but that's the vintage. Tobacco notes mark the finish.

Light straw in color. A fresh nose with floral notes and a hint of toast. Expressive with ripe fruit and a slight mineral tinge.

Clean and fresh, with berry and mineral character. Medium-bodied, with slightly chewy tannins and a medium finish. Well-made for the vintage. Real Bordeaux for a good price. Best from 2010 through 2013.

Dichtes Granatrubin.

Color: A dense, brillian red with a purple tint. Nose: A fresh and harmonious nose, rich in ripe berry and red fruit aromas, especially black currant and morello cherry. Palate: The attack is supple and fruity, on jammy fruit, and the tannins are silky and well-rounded. The slightly spicy finish expresses all the distinctive character of ripe Merlot.

A traditional wine with a smooth palate that is ideal for everyday drinking. Medium-bodied flavor and heavy berry fruit aromas. A characteristic Bordeaux blend in quality and taste.
