Baron Gassier Cuvee Elegance Cotes de Provence Saint-Victoire 2018

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £11 from a local supermarket. The Cotes de Provence is a large appellation created in 1977,although viticulture here goes back at least 2,500 years, for red, rose and white wines [75% are rose] from 85 communes and 3 departments in eastern Provence.9 of those communes around the Saint-Victoire mountain are allowed to have that name on the wine label as well.My bottle consists of 58% grenache,27% syrah and 15% cinsault. I started it the other evening with my supper of smoked fish and salad. It is a very pale pink colour. It is not bone dry but slightly off dry as there is just a hint of sweetness. There is some cherry and redcurrant style fruit and there is a taste of spice or pepper particularly on the finish. I thought this a lovely rose with plenty of flavour that went well with my fish.

Deep in the heart of Chateau Gassier owns 40 hectares of vines, in the picturesque village of Puyloubier. In the middle of Provence our winemakers are ideally placed to make our Estate wine and to choose wines which reflect the colours and aromas of Provence... Gassier wine are mainly rosé wines, with nice crispy clean style, dry wines ( Less than 3 gr/liters !!) such as “Sables d’Azur”, rosé Côtes de Provence or "Edition Spéciale" Sainte Victoire rosé...
