Food Pairings for Baron de Ley Rioja Club Privado
I bought a bottle of this wine for £6 after tasting it at an event called 'tapas fantastica' that I attended in London during the summer. It is a limited cuvvee from Bodegas Baron de Ley [www.barondeley.com] in the Rioja region in northern Spain.Baron de Ley is a company noted for its quality wines although it was only founded in 1985 but now quoted on the Spanish Stock Exchange. It has 90 hectares of vines and its HQ includes a 16th century Benedictine monastery. The wine, like most Riojas,is made from the Tempranillo grape and this one has spent a year in oak barrels before bottling.I drank my bottle last night as an accompaniment to my dinner of pizza and salad and I have to say I enjoyed it.There is plenty of fruit,[think blackberries and cherries] and flavour and the tannins are fairly soft.Overall I would say this is a quality product at a value for money price.
