What to Expect
Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.
Winemakers Notes
Color: Dark Garnet.
Nose: Upon opening, oak and strong vegetable note (My wife says it smells like scallion). After 1 hour of decanting, stronger aroma of vanilla, cassis and dried cherry finally emerges.
Palate: Cassis, blueberry and dried red fruit flavors with faint hint of tobacco. Angular mouth feel with relatively harsh tannins. Still fairly alcoholic.
Body: Light to medium with minimum structure.
Finish: Rather short. Mostly dried red fruits, peppery and notes of drying tannins.

A consistent superstar. I've occasionally had "corked" and other similar thoughts on some bottles after opening the wine, but after 20 mins of breathing, the bottle is fine. The 2000 vintage is drinking really well now (2007) and I was very disappointed with the 2003. Try to get your hands on a 2000 or look for the 2005 which should be in the country soon.

I'd like the chance to change my opinion on this wine. The one bottled I've had was corked, so I set it aside for cooking. Three weeks of not-quite-closed on the counter later the friend who'd vetoed it as corked (I didn't even taste it then) picked it up by accident, tried it, and liked it.

This is one of the best Buzet from the legendary 2000 vintage: a Bordeaux blend with a deeper, fruity Southwestern character.
Rich ruby color. Delicate nose of cassis, red cherries and dried plums. Full-bodied, round, with jammy plum flavors. Lots of concentration and nice tannins. Perfect for grilled meats (white and red) and strong, flavorful dishes or cheeses. Great cellar potential--can keep for up to 5 more years. Open an hour before serving.
