Baron Charles Louis Mercurey 1976

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of Burgundy from www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/16237 for the princely sum of a mere £3.50.It had come from a house clearance.Mercurey wine comes from the communes of Mercurey and St.Martin sous Montaigue on the Cotes Chalonaise in southern Burgundy where it is the largest appellation.I have not been able to find out anything abot Baron Charles Louis but I think he is a producer rather than a negociant or brand name because it says 'Mis en Bouteille au Chateau' on the ;label.Because of the age of the bottle I did not know what to expect but it was a really nice wine and everything one would expect from a Burgundy. It was smooth, subtle and mellow and there was fruit. It was not stale or past it I think it very good value at the price

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
