Barolo Vigna la Villa Paiagallo Fontanafredda 93vm 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 1999 Barolo Paiagallo Vigna La Villa is laced with sweet tobacco, incense, dried herbs and worn-in leather. The 1999 has aged gracefully, even if the oak is quite prominent. Fully tertiary notes are right around the corner, so I wouldn’t wait too long on the 1999. This is an excellent choice for drinking over the next decade or so. The medium-bodied grace of La Villa comes through nicely on a finish laced with sweet tobacco and dried herbs. Overall, the 1999 has aged gracefully, although it is one of the more delicate wines in a vintage that generally produced far more structured, powerful Barolos...93" Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

A wine that doesn’t smack you in the face with a single dimension. Very tame fruit—much like raisins without the sweetness. Earthiness that suggests a rustic wine. Still firm tannin but supported by excellent acid. I’m glad I have another bottle, and it can wait another decade for me.
