What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Winemakers Notes

Made only in exceptional years (the last being 1996), aged for 6 years in largeslavonian oak botte a year in bottle prior to release, Ca d'Morissio capturesthe best fruit from the heart of the Monprivato vineyard, the pride ofCastiglione Falletto. In particular Ca d'Morissio draws on the oldest Michetclone vines for its majesty. Compared with the red ribes scent of theMonprivato, Ca d'Morissio displays a profound, darker, more savoury, compact,mulberry-fruited perfume, while the palate almost defies description, such isits tightly woven, gracefully rich kernel of read more...

Editorial Reviews

Wow, what an ever changing nose full of smoke, minerals, tarry herbs, spicy herbs with notes of turmeric, fenugreek, roses and a hint of sweet onion. In the mouth this is brilliantly ripe yet so precise with knife edge balance that give the tight yet seamless fruit a real sense of finesse. The raspberry fruit gives a racy impression across the mid-palate with some peach pit tones on the backend that leads to a long finish. Really special purity to this wine. 2014-2045 96pts

Berry Bros & Rudd review: A wine of real filigree and ethereal beauty. To find a wine of equivalentstature, one perhaps needs to head to Burgundy where a parellel couldconceivably be drawn with Chambolle's Bonnes Mares or Gevrey's Le Chambertin, from top sources of course. Drinking from 2018 till 2031, along withgrouse.(David Berry Green, BBR Buyer).
