Food Pairings for Barolo Luigi Calissano and Figli
Recently purchased 2 bottles of this wine with a view to tasting it. Remember it is 29 years old when i tasted it so my expectations were modest. Well what a surprise it was. When i opened the wine it looked more like light Burgundy rather than a Barolo. When i tasted it first it was a tired old wine. But i decided to let it breath for 3 hours. It was worth the wait. It was transformed into a beautiful chocolate tasting wine with some tobacco and tea flavors along with a slight lingering blueberry flavor at the end. It has a smooth but not long finish to it. A wonderful surprise of a wine. Looking forward to drinking the next bottle - who would have thought that 29 years later it would taste so well.
