What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Editorial Reviews

Dusty and evolved with bookbinders glue, chocolate pound cake, rum raisin ice cream and light wrapper tobacco leaf tones, except it didn't smell quite as good as all that. It's a touch hot in the mouth and has good length and a nice succulence but not enough flesh to conceal this still rather substantial strucutreal componenets. Seaweed and herb notes contrast the sort of roast fruit that remains. Solid but uninspiring bottle. Drink em up. 86pts.

Reviews

Francesco Rinaldi is a traditional winemaker, choosing to age his Barolos in large Slovenian casks rather than barrique. He produces delicate wines that show nuances of black cherry, licorice, and tobacco. This 1974 is beautifully aged and ready to drink.
