What to Expect

Nebbiolo is a fickle grape famed as much for its pale appearance as for its tannic character and produces some of the most perfumed and richly flavored wines. Though generally only medium-bodied, the wines possess rose and anise scented aromatics and deep flavors of cherry, orange peel and subtle green herb tones.

Medium full in the mouth with good acidity just a touch blocky and dull on the backend 2
Flavors are a bit heavy with lots of toasty oak but there seems to be sufficient dark fruit to back it up and even some deep mineral cut on the midpalate to offer a respite from the weight. A bit closed yet dark and brooding read more...

".. the liveliest and darkest of Veglios Barolos, but that is not surprising since this is his only wine to come from Monforte rather than La Morra. A deep, dark violet, it possesses gorgeous aromas of dried flowers, vibrant black cherries, pine, spice and minerals buffered by firm tannins that frame its expansive, generous personality...93" WA 01/08.
