Winemakers Notes
"The 2005 Barolo Villero is ridiculously great. All sorts of cinnamon, cloves, menthol and other balsamic nuances take center stage. The dark fruit is marvelously radiant, open and expressive, showing superb density and richness. The tannins are of course firm for a wine of this age, but that doesn’t get in the way of what is a totally alluring Barolo of the highest level. Violets, plums and minerals ring out on the precise, refreshing finish. Hats off to Brovia for another exceptional Barolo...95." WA 12/23/10

Reviews for 2005 Vintage
A red wine blended from younger vines found within the four crus of the Brovia estate. This has smooth tannins on the palate, with a real woodsy/spicy character and red fruits. Always a compelling Nebbiolo from one of our favorite estates in Piedmont.
This vineyard sight in the town of Castiglione Falletto yields softer Baroli. That being said, this traditional estate makes the most of the vineyard's stony soil to produce wines of structure and finesse. The fruit here is plum-like, woodsy, and earthy. The tannins are remarkably approachable at a young age.
A great value in Nebbiolo for those of you who crave Barolo but are saving that bottle for the right occasion. This is drinking very well right now: berries, plums, and almonds shine through on the palate, and the finish is firm and tannic.
Budget Nebbiolo for those of you who crave Barolo but are saving that bottle for the right occasion. Drinking very well at the moment: berries, plums, and almonds with a firm tannic finish.
