We got our start as a "garage wine" back in the Sixties but really stepped up what Barefoot was about in 1986 when Michael Houlihan and partner Bonnie Harvey decided to relaunch the brand. The two of them, along with the first Barefooter, Randy Arnold, believed in making and selling wine that was both delicious and affordable and that could be enjoyed by everyone from first-time wine-consumers to hard-core aficionados. We believe that we can both promote our brand and satisfy our desire to make the world a better place by partnering with various non-profits and pouring at various fund-raising events. Over the years, Barefoot has been a part of thousands of non-profit events and our popularity has grown along with our support of these ground-breaking organizations. We took another big step in 2006 by becoming a sponsor of the Association of Volleyball Professions (AVP) Beach Volleyball supporting a grassroots sport that originated in our state-California. We’ve also teamed up with the grass roots non-profit, the Surfrider Foundation, to create the Barefoot Beach Rescue Project, designed to clean up beaches and ensure they are "Barefoot friendly." These two initiatives help us spread a sense of fun in the sun while furthering the Barefoot philosophy of giving back. Over the years, our wines have garnered numerous accolades and professional awards, but more importantly to us, we have a growing circle of loyal fans who love to enjoy our wine and who have joined us in the spirit of giving back to our communities and to our world. For us, and we hope for all of you, that’s an achievement well worth toasting with a glass of Barefoot wine. Read less

I liked it, but the ability to drink it quickly resulted in an immediate buzz. It seemed more like a pinot gris than a riesling...more apple tart, than taste of honey on the finish. I combined it with lemonade and it worked well to temper the alcohol. $5 isn't bad, but it's rather like a LaBatt Blue beer...a little better than Budweiser, but still a beer for the American palate.

Not as fruity as most rieslings I've tried, actually pretty strong alcohol flavors. But it was good for its price range.

Didn't care for at all. Too dry and not as sweet as their Moscato.

Well... I didn't necessarily dislike it but it wasn't what I was expecting when I first tried it so my rating is skewed. After trying the Barefoot moscato, I thought I would be adventurous (and yes, I mean adventurous in my novice world of wine). I love the Loosen variations. This one is not as sweet, a little more dry, still light and fruity but a little more of a lingering aftertaste of something between apricot and oak. It's the oak I am not so keen on yet. It's not bad. It's good for the white wine offering at a gathering or to serve to other novice drinkers but I wouldn't expect experienced drinkers to enjoy this as much.

This Riesling has a tart flavor with a light aftertaste. The apple and grape are very clear. It is quite sweet. It is great to have around for light meals.

Barefoot Riesling hits all the right fruit-filled notes with perfect pitch. A delicate orange blossom aroma bounces off juicy apple and tangy lemon flavors for a slightly sweet finale.

Kudos to Gallo for letting people know this wine is sweet. That avoids a lot of confusion. The honey, tangerine and peach flavors are balanced with lots of zesty acidity. Delightful, and a great bargain.

Barefoot Riesling is tropical and juicy and has peach and jasmine aromas that delight before the first sip. Juicy nectarine and pear flavors complement the lingering sweet citrus and honey finish. Zesty! Serve chilled! Barefoot Riesling pairs well with fresh fruits, veggies and cheese. Serve with sushi, teriyaki and tempura dishes. Enjoy with spicy chicken tacos and green sauce enchiladas. Enjoy with friends!
