Barefoot Cellars Pinot Grigio California NV

Winemaker's Notes:

As refreshing as an ocean breeze, Barefoot Pinot Grigio is light-bodied, elegant and flavorful. Tart green apple flavors harmonize with notes of luscious white peach, floral blossom, and citrus. Try with seafood such as salmon or shrimp, chicken, pasta and light salads.

We got our start as a "garage wine" back in the Sixties but really stepped up what Barefoot was about in 1986 when Michael Houlihan and partner Bonnie Harvey decided to relaunch the brand. The two of them, along with the first Barefooter, Randy Arnold, believed in making and selling wine that was both delicious and affordable and that could be enjoyed by everyone from first-time wine-consumers to hard-core aficionados. We believe that we can both promote our brand and satisfy our desire to make the world a better place by partnering with various non-profits and pouring at various fund-raising events. Over the years, Barefoot has been a part of thousands of non-profit events and our popularity has grown along with our support of these ground-breaking organizations. We took another big step in 2006 by becoming a sponsor of the Association of Volleyball Professions (AVP) Beach Volleyball supporting a grassroots sport that originated in our state-California. We’ve also teamed up with the grass roots non-profit, the Surfrider Foundation, to create the Barefoot Beach Rescue Project, designed to clean up beaches and ensure they are "Barefoot friendly." These two initiatives help us spread a sense of fun in the sun while furthering the Barefoot philosophy of giving back. Over the years, our wines have garnered numerous accolades and professional awards, but more importantly to us, we have a growing circle of loyal fans who love to enjoy our wine and who have joined us in the spirit of giving back to our communities and to our world. For us, and we hope for all of you, that’s an achievement well worth toasting with a glass of Barefoot wine. Read less

Horrible wine with strong alcohol flavor.

For me it has the 'spork' effect, trying to be both like champagne and wine, but performing neither very well. I literally let it go flat to see if it tasted better as a wine, but still was not a fan. There was a lack of sweetness for champagne and richness for wine, but this could be merely my palette. Try it out first before buying it to impress others.

i can certainly understand why someone with pickier tastes might not find this desirable, but you cant deny its a solid white wine for the price. Personally i have a soft spot for pinot grigiot, and this wine is very respectable. one of my go to daily wines. nothing too special, but certainly not offensive in any waysat all; remarkably well balanced for the price, citrusy but not too acidic, and lovely hints of green apple that im particularly fond of and quite sufficient depth considering the cost(i really disagree with those saying it just tastes like alcohol and nothing else) and, most importantly, its quite enjoyable to drink in my opinion. qualities of an average respectable bottle, but at a bargain price. would recommend, especially for those that are fond of white wines, and on a budget

Good price for an everyday white wine. The citron, pineapple, apple and honeysuckle flavors are a little sweet, but cleansed with brisk acidity.

Aromas of dried jasmine, bergamot cookie, and peach sorbet are attractive and follow through on a silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body with very good balance and acidity and a persistent, chalk, lemongrass, and white nut accented fade. A tasty crowd pleaser.

Shows Pinot Grigio’s floral, citrus, apricot and spice flavors in a dry sparkling wine. Unusual, but tasty, and versatile with all kinds of food.

Crisp, tart aromas and flavors of apple, pear, and stone fruit with a slight yeastiness on the midpalate; lively bubbles are short-lived; finishes balanced with a hint of green pear. Aperitif.
