Everything I want in a Pinot Grigio. Great balanced acidity, citrusy and crisp without becoming too light-bodied.
i think that if you took a bunch of fig newtons and liquified them, the flavor on this would be similar. This a GOOD thing. I paired this with Gorton's Potato Crunch Fish Filets and it was a great combo. The filets were sinfully delicious as well.
In celebration of Irene gone, power back on and beautiful day opened a delicious bottle of Barboursville Vineyards in Virginia Pinot Grigio. Wine is true Italian style made by their wonderful Italian winemaker Luca Paschina. It's full of apple, pear and a hint of pineapple. Should go perfectly with my linguine alle vongole dinner!
High acidity even for a Pinot Grigio. Robust flavors, but they are lost.
Fresh and fruity, with good acidity. Pineapple, lime, and tropical flavors with a nice "zing' on the palate.
I actually tried the Barboursville Vineyards Pinot Grigio 2007 at a luncheon at the vineyard yesterday, but since that's not listed on this site I'll put the review here. I typically don't have high hopes for American Pinot Grigio, I'll usually only drink this varietal from Italy. But the Barboursville version was pretty good. It had a nice aroma and more body and flavor than other American Pinot Grigios I've tried. It went well with food-- it was paired with a scallop risotto when I tried it. It would also be fine alone, although it's a more serious white than what I generally prefer to drink just sitting around on the patio in the summer.
