Banrock Station Shiraz 2009

Member Review by jamessulis:

Extreme value @ Winco for $5.28 per bottle. Dark spicy aroma with a taste of cherry, sweet raspberry, dark chocolate and spicy oak. Very well balanced mingled with a toasty oak and chocolate finish. It's not world class but the flavors and satisfaction from this inexpensive shiraz rates high on my wine palate.

Yeah it's OK for the price but good luck trying to get it open. Tried using my swiss army knife, diagonal cutters and needle nose pliers but ended up giving it to my wife to open. Felt humiliated. Wouldn't buy it again.

Soft and appealing for its effusive berry and plum fruit, lingering gently on the round finish. Drink now.

An interesting spiciness adds interest, keeping this round, accessible wine from being just another bottle. The dark fruit shows tobacco, cumin, anise and red pepper notes. Itrsquo;s soft, not fat, on the palate, and goes down easy with a tangy pepper-licorice close.

Though the alcohol pokes out a bit in this wine, itrsquo;s still a good, value-packed sipper. On the palate, itrsquo;s all about chewy plum and blackberry fruit. The nose offers black pepper, chocolate and coconut aromas.

Banrock Station Shiraz 2009 wine has vibrant purple with deep red hues, this wine epitomizes the depth of color and flavor Australian Shiraz are renowned for. Aromas of black currant, cherry and spicy oak precede a soft and supple palate. Fresh fruit characters of cherry and red berry fruits are balanced by licorice and tantalizing chocolate flavors. Hints of cinnamon, vanilla and oak add complexity to this exceptional wine.
