Yes, it's plonk. And yes, I shouldn't like it nearly as much as I do. It represents the best in low-end Aussie shiraz: fruit, fruit, fruit and more fruit. And what fruit it is! Exuberant berries, fleshy plum, and a bit of oak (doubtless chips, or possibly even extract) to give it structure. Easy-drinking and pleasant. Hard to argue with at the price...no one would ever mistake this for a great wine, but sometimes even wine writers (!) don't want to drink great wine. This is an obliging, friendly wine.

An interesting spiciness adds interest, keeping this round, accessible wine from being just another bottle. The dark fruit shows tobacco, cumin, anise and red pepper notes. It's soft, not fat, on the palate, and goes down easy with a tangy pepper-licorice close.

Fresh ripe fruit flavors are enhanced by lifted pepper and soft integrated oak.

On the light side, with crisp red berry flavors mingling with spice and herb notes through the finish.

Polished, soft and appealing for its berry and earthy spice flavors. Drink now.

Soft and appealing for its effusive berry and plum fruit, lingering gently on the round finish. Drink now.

Though the alcohol pokes out a bit in this wine, it's still a good, value-packed sipper. On the palate, it's all about chewy plum and blackberry fruit. The nose offers black pepper, chocolate and coconut aromas.

Has some intensity and chewy texture to the tar and blackberry flavors, lingering gently. Drink now.
