Banfi Centine Rosso di Toscana 2013
Across Tuscany and anywhere wine is made, nature gives us its bounty. At Castello Banfi and throughout the varied terroirs and soils that make up our constellation of vineyards, we harvest the goodness of the earth, caressing and nurturing it as we craft our wine to express all its character in every bottle.
Editorial Reviews for Banfi Centine Rosso di Toscana
Very youthful on the nose is all lightly creamy, spice wood and vanilla framed cut cherry/berry fruit that's topped with a nice violet note. A little light bodied at first, but this really has attractive black cherry and strawberry fruit wrapped in in soft tannins and fairly bright but integrated acidity. Fruity and simple with a touch of a chunky mid-palate that leads to a slight rustic finish. Mostly Sangiovese with enough Cabernet and Merlot to add richness though not enough to obscure the wines Tuscan roots. 87pts

Aggressive bite on first taste, but nice fruity elements in long aftertaste
Fresh and approachable. Cherry, strawberry and raspberry fruits up front with just enough tannin to keep it real. Tastes like something way more expensive!
nice medium bodied red blend...red fruit flavors..
Light nose, light palate. I would enjoy this wine on a Sunday afternoon with a light meal
Three and a half glasses
I liked it, but didn't love it.

Banfi is best known for the outstanding Brunello di Montalcino it produces from The Castello Banfi estate vineyards. This delightful value Super Tuscan red comes in at the other end of the spectrum price-wise, but it still delivers. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with a touch of oak aging. It's a wine that ends up on Best Buy lists every vintage. This 2010 was just awarded the Best in Show Red at the ninth annual Critics Challenge International Wine Competition, beating out bottles that cost six times as much. That's a quite a feat for a wine at this price point. No surprise the Banfi team is doing something right. Check it out!
